I went to see the Hunger Games on opening day. I can’t express how much I love that dang movie. I can’t wait for the next one; a year is a little too long. **sigh**

Anyway, rant over. The point of me telling you that I went to Hunger Games is to tell you that I saw a preview for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
I think it looks really good. Plus Tim Burton is on the team and I really dig Burton movies. Since I want to see the movie, I decided to read the book first. I always try to read the book first, because it is usually better than the movie.

Off to Amazon, my book dealer of choice, I went. They had several different copies, but I chose the Hardcover illustrated edition. Pictures are always better, right?
I was shocked when I first started reading it because it is so different that what I expected. I was totally expecting a cheesy horror book, the kind that R.L. Stein used to write. Ha ha ha. It actually is really well written. The author tells the story of Abraham in a biographical sort of way using excerpts from Abraham’s journals.
The story starts in a modern era then travels back to when Abraham was a young boy. Since I haven’t quite finished the book I have only reached the part in Abraham’s life when the civil war is going on. The twist: vampires are actually using the war to try and take over the United States. It is written so well sometimes I forget that this is fiction and the “facts” might not be actually true. It would be interesting to compare this book to the actual history of the civil war, I expect it probably follows really closely.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has kept my attention well and because I like Seth Grahame-Smith’s storytelling style I am thinking of buying more of his novels. He has a whole monster mash-up theme in his other novels too.
What to read next? Any ideas?
