Celebrate Saturday: Adam and Stacy Barrick

I didn’t have a holiday to celebrate on Saturday because I had something better, some of my best friends’ wedding.

Adam and Stacey Barrick
I have known Stacey Arnold and Adam Barrick since I was in elementary school. In 6th grade we were all part of a group that would hang out every recess and on the weekends. Even though we all went separate ways with our life the seven of us have stayed in touch. Their story is one like a romantic comedy (at least in my eyes).
When we were in Jr. High the seven of us; Claire, Amanda, Stacey, Adam, Nick, John, and I; would spend so much time together. We would walk home from school to Nick’s house every Friday when the weather was good enough too. We would spend every lunch together watching the boys play some geeky card game. We would talk about our crushes and our fears. These kids were my best friends. I still would do anything for them, and I know they would do anything for me.
I can’t remember exactly what years, but Stacey moved away to Michigan and Adam moved away to Ogden. Since we were only in our early teens, no of us could drive to see each other. We tried to stay in touch, but life got in the way. We all drifted apart and led separate lives.
Facebook is an amazing tool, it has brought back into contact with each other and we are all friends again. We talk, text, and sometimes when we can we hang out. Adam and I became very close again after I went through a terrible break up and he was the one who could be there for me. But, alas I got married and finding time to spend with each other became difficult.
So shortly after I was unable to hang with him again we found out Stacey had moved back from Michigan. It was as if she had never left, we would hang and text all the time. Here is where the love story begins. The two people who left first and returned last fell in love. I was thrilled, I couldn’t think of a better couple.
Then, they broke up! Ack! I couldn’t believe two people so in love would want to be apart. Stacey had life goals that didn’t match up with Adam’s life goals so they decided they weren’t going to stand in each others way. Heart wrenching climax, I know.
Like every good romantic comedy we all knew they were still in love. It was only a matter of time (3 months I think) before they got back together. One day Adam reached out to Stacey because she was having a particularly hard time and needed a shoulder to cry on. Cue reconciliation scene.
Stacey told me that when she saw him again, when he was there for her, when she needed him, she realized she was madly in love and there would be no other person who she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She started crying and ran into his open arms.
At that moment both of their life goals changed, the things getting in their way didn’t seem as important.
On April 28, 2012 Adam and Stacey were married in a beautiful, geeky ceremony. The location was gorgeous; they were hitched on a bridge over a small creek. The moment they said I do, everyone could feel their love for each other.
I was so lucky to be there with them during this amazing moment in their life. I am so grateful for the friendship they share with me.

Ps: I’ll see if I can steal some pics. :D
