2013: April

April:
The 13th was the weekend that Misty, my BFF, moved home to WA. She had lived in UT for 10 years and was ready to be near her family again. It was a terribly busy weekend as we finished packing Friday night and loaded the truck Saturday morning. I know it is a better place for her to live, but I really miss her. I did a lot more outside of my home when she was here. Now I usually end up playing video games to pass the time when Jason is at work. But now I have a 2nd reason to visit Seattle, WA, silver linings and all.

The 15th was a really sad and traumatic  Two brothers set off several bombs during the Boston Marathon. There were several fatalities and multiple wounded. I was in awe of how many videos there were of the incident, videos that had all the gory details. Social media is the reason these were available so readily. People who were filming the marathon for many different reasons caught the whole tragedy as it happened. These videos were published on various sites. I watched several of the videos and I am still in shock of how it looked. The bomb went off, you could only hear it, and then there were blood and body parts everywhere. I was surprised at how red the blood was still. Many of the victims were so lucky because of the first aid that was set up along the race path for injured and overheated runners. There were so many people that knew emergency medical procedures on location that the death toll was dramatically lowered. As I think back on that day I remember how saddened I was by the fact that people still want to harm others for silly reasons like religion. I don’t believe you should intentionally harm another person ever, and when someone does in such a magnitude it chills me to the bone.

On the 18th we celebrated Millie’s 25th birthday. Dang we are all getting so old. We just tried to make her feel as special as possible because she was having a hard time with the fact as soon as baby girl would be born she wouldn't ever be the center of attention again, as far as she is concerned anyway.

The best part of April? I finally have an answer for my snoring, headaches, sleep deprivation, and chronic sinus infections! My nose was severely deviated first on the left then completely touching on the right. I also had large turbinates and a polyp. I underwent surgery to repair my nose on the 29th. I have never made a better decision regarding my health. I don’t snore as badly anymore, I sleep better, I don’t wake up with headaches, and I haven’t had a sinus infection since my nose has healed. It is freaking amazing. Staying home for two weeks was really hard because I was bored but really easy because I was so medicated at first, then in a lot of pain when my sinuses swelled up because of infection and trauma. The recovery was way more intense than I expected. But I would do it all over again because of how much better I feel.

Another huge post, this time only for one month… To Be Continued
